Why must we continue to struggle in a world that’s stacked against us while the wealthy treat our very existence as inconsequential? Why do the rich get to enjoy the fruits of our society - of our labor- while the rest of us are left fighting over their meager scraps they occasionally leave behind ? Like we are a penny that they’ve dropped on the ground and it would cost them more to pick us up. The billionaires will tell you that they deserve their wealth. That they’ve earned it. that somehow we deserve to suffer.To have to decide if we pay rent or pay to see a doctor. To sit on the street corner, in the cold; to go hungry.

Joshua understands that the billionaires have gotten out of control. He aims to modify the tax code to 70 percent marginal tax rate in the district, and desires reforms to capital gains and inheritance taxes. Joshua supports tax hikes on earnings or valuations greater than one billion dollars. Society has a need for that money.

We reject billionaires' so-called meritocracy. We reject their walled off economy of exclusion. We reject their demands that we must sacrifice our lives to their sole benefit. We deny them the wealth they have extracted with our blood, our sweat, our tears, and we demand it be returned.

The housing crisis isn’t a mystery - it’s a business model. Scarcity is profitable. Displacement is profitable. I am a renter. I get the reality of being one emergency visit away from losing your home. Affordable housing should be something you can count on. In Congress, Joshua will fight to repeal the Faircloth Amendment so that we can build high quality public housing. Bristol will work to strengthen tenant protections against unjust evictions and rent hikes and fight to fully fund and modernize then NYC Housing Authority. Joshua will stand with tenants and homeowners alike to back bold solutions like the Homes Act. Josh will fight to expand Section 8 vouchers, expand rent controls, and strengthen federal tenant protections against unjust evictions and rent gouging. Josh will work to prevent property owners from leaving their properties empty and fight to bring about an end to homelessness. Our goal is simple: long-term affordability, strong public investment, and real power for the people. Housing should provide stability - not windfalls for investors.

Every gain working people have ever made came from collective action - not corporate generosity. Unions are the only institution that consistently shifts power away from billionaires and toward ordinary people. That’s why they’re attacked so relentlessly. When workers organize, pay goes up, conditions improve, and democracy gets stronger. Joshua has stood on the picket lines with our nurses, with our community members working at Starbucks, and in Congress, Joshua will fight to pass the PRO Act, crack down on union-busting, and make it easier for workers to organize without fear. Joshua supports a four day work week, minimum wage increases, and workplace unionization. He also will engage the gig economy to close contractor/employee loopholes. He will support legislation to require standardized rest breaks across industries. Joshua will empower unions and seek to impose penalties on businesses that are hostile to unionization. He will work to make unionization efforts easier, simpler, and safer for organizers. Joshua will continue to stand with workers wherever they are building power.

This campaign starts from a simple truth: corporations will never give up their profits voluntarily. They have to be beaten - by organized workers, mass pressure, and representatives willing to pick a side. Tying health care to employment gives bosses control over people’s bodies, families, and futures. That power is abused every day. Healthcare must be guaranteed and once in congress, Joshua will fight to make Medicare for All a reality.

As a child, Joshua had a brain tumor. Because of that tumor, Joshua had to overcome a multitude of health issues throughout his life; like lower levels of essential hormones- hormones necessary for growth and development. Joshua went blind in his right eye - but he was able to see clearly the mockery of a system that dares to call itself healthcare.

We demand and embrace a future where healthcare is available to all. For too long have the billionaires conspired to keep us at the mercy of a vicious and inhumane system. This system denies care understood as a principle, and transforms people into a unit of value to be weighed, extracted, and discarded. It costs taxpayers exorbitant sums while delivering substandard care, worsening health outcomes, and denying preventative treatments that people desperately need. We have all seen this system fail- we have seen the real costs of billionaires’ greed; the one cost that they happily pay over and over- because we are that cost.

And for Joshua- we, the people - are not a cost he is willing to pay.

Economic security means little if our neighborhoods flood and our air makes our kids sick. A livable planet is the bare minimum. Climate change is already driving up energy bills, worsening asthma, and flooding neighborhoods in Central Brooklyn. Working-class communities are paying first and worst. Joshua supports a federal Green New Deal that rapidly transitions us off fossil fuels, while creating jobs right here in Brooklyn. Josh will push to fully fund NYCHA retrofits so housing is energy-efficient, mold-free, and resilient during heat waves and storms. We must invest in grid modernization and community solar, expand federal transit funding, and enforce aggressive pollution standards on major emitters. Polluters should pay for cleanup and climate resilience - not Brooklyn families.

Economic justice, environmental justice, and immigrant justice are not separate fights - they are about who the government serves: people or power.From the Caribbean to South Asia to West Africa, our district reflects the strength that comes from all people in our community. Our district is powered by immigrants, yet federal policy relies on detention, deportation, and fear. No words can do justice to the anger, the sadness, the disgust, that that we have been feeling. There are moments where Joshua has felt paralyzed - By grief - By anger. We cannot give in to that paralysis. We cannot remain in our paralysis. We can and we must do something. We must all come together to do our part. And for Joshua - once elected, he will do his part. JOshwill work to abolish ICE as a deportation force, end private immigration detention, create a more accessible pathway to citizenship, protect Dreamers and TPS holders, and guarantee due process in immigration courts. We must put an end to programs that turn local police into immigration agents. Dignity, humanity, upholding rights, and the law must be central to immigration policy.

The same politics that criminalize migration also fuel endless war abroad. We cannot claim to defend freedom at home while funding violence abroad. We embrace a vision where the United States of America acts not as a bully on the world stage, one that seeks only to colonize and seize, but as a treasured ally and partner. Congress has enabled endless war while military contractors profit. I support enforcing the War Powers Resolution and reigning in the unchecked power of the Trump administration. Oligarchs continue to profit off a campaign of manifest destiny and expansionism, and it will not succeed. The enduring will and dignity of Palestinians, indigenous Americans, and oppressed peoples everywhere must be protected. We must boycott, divest, and sanction to end the genocide in Palestine. Joshua will fight for an immediate and actualized ceasefire in Gaza, for the rights and safety of Israelis and Palestinians, and for Palestinian’s right to self-determination. Rights to self- determination must also include Puerto Rican’s right to self-determination. In congress, Joshua would sponsor and support legislation pushing for a ballot initiative in Puerto Rico including options of Statehood, Independence, or Sovereignty in Free Association with the US. This measure must include a federally funded nonpartisan voter education campaign leading up to the vote to enable Puerto Ricans to make an informed choice. Our foreign policy needs to prioritize rights to self-determination, to life, dignity, diplomacy and human rights - not blank checks for war.
